Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates and Times

Airline ticket prices vary largely on the day of the week, time of year, and upcoming holidays, such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Thanks giving Etc . So flying around these times will cost you more.  Solution : FLY OFF SEASON  Airlines are not dumb. They know when a festival, holiday, major sports event, or school break is coming up — and they raise prices accordingly. Be flexible with your dates and times and you’ll save yourself some major money.

Book Flights in Advance (But Not Too Early)

Fares depend upon demand . Don’t wait until the last second but don’t book far in advance either. The best time to book your flight is around 3-4 months before your departure, or around 4 months before if you are going to your destination during their peak season. Travel Insurance: Must travel Insurance to cover unexpected events , such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies and lost luggage etc.

Switching for Alternative Airports

Flying from alternative airports or nearby airports  and a day here and there can help you a good deal. An open jaw flight will fly you to one destination and then fly you back from another.  For example: Charlotte and Raleigh (In North Carolina) airport distance is around 155 Miles . when you fly from Charlotte  to Hyderabad and then fly back to Raleigh from HYDERABAD . When fares are high to a particular city, try to take advantage of a cheaper nearby airport.

Mix and Match Airlines

Although direct flights may seem convenient, booking separate parts of your trip can sometimes get you lower prices. So If you’re hunting for the lowest possible price and aren’t happy with what you’re finding on the airline’s website, try booking separate segments on separate airlines. For example: if you’re flying from New York (JFK) to Paris (CDG), you might have a stop in London (LHR). Booking both legs as one ticket will be simple, but it likely won’t save you money. Instead, book your New York (JFK)  to London(LHR) flight as one ticket and then your London(LHR) to Paris (CDG) ticket with another airline. Note : If you do book separate segments, be sure to have at least 4-5 hours between connections. This will give you ample space in case there is a delay as your second flight won’t wait for you

Flexible with flight destination

Remember that peak seasons in the UK won’t necessarily be peak seasons elsewhere in the world.Being flexible with your travel dates and destinations is a key strategy for finding cheap flights.

Join Frequent flier Programme

If you are a frequent traveler, sign up for travel credit card and airline frequent flier programmes . Accumulate miles through flight bookings , credit card purchases, or promotions, and redeem them for discounted or even free tickets and many more travel related perks like free lounge access , free upgrades to higher classes etc.

Book Connecting Flights

Although direct flights may seem convenient, booking separate parts of your trip can sometimes get you lower prices. Also connecting flights with multiple stops is cheaper most of the time when compared to Non-stop or Direct flights , but don’t assume that direct non-stop flights will cost you more. That is not always true. Direct flights may actually cost less than flights with stops, especially in low-travel season or when a new route is added.

Go for Incognito Mode

Various Websites store the search history and cookies from your browser to increase the airfare. So you might have noticed that flight ticket prices might change based on what you have already browsed.  Do note that it is because of the cookies in your browser; it’s because when you search, flight prices change and increase when a particular route gets repeatedly searched so as to trick you into booking the flight tickets quickly.
